Wrexham A.F.C. pumped Morecambe 6-0 on Saturday, thanks to a hat-trick from superstar Paul Mullin. The win vaults Wrexham to second place in the League Two table. Back-to-back promotions sure would be fantastic for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s Welcome to Wrexham doc.

Keen to recover from their loss to Accrington Stanley last weekend, which ended Wrexham’s 11-game unbeaten run, Wrexham started the match strong on Saturday by scoring a pair of goals in the opening seven minutes.

An own goal by Morecambe defender Joel Senior in the 5th minute was quickly followed by Mullin’s first goal of the match two minutes later.

Substitute Jacob Mendy, who replaced the injured Anthony Forde, added a third goal for Wrexham before halftime, tearing through Morecambe’s defence and firing a powerful shot into the net.

Morecambe, still adjusting to the sudden departure of their manager Derek Adams to Ross County last week, suffered further setbacks in the second half. Mullin’s second goal, a deflected strike, flew past goalkeeper Adam Smith in the 67th minute.

Mullin completed his hat-trick with a left-footed strike from outside the box 10 minutes later.

James Jones’ goal in added time sealed the massive scoreline for Phil Parkinson’s side.

With league leaders Stockport County losing to Newport County on Saturday, Wrexham now trail by just five points.
